My mise-en-scene recreation video Mr Halsey's comments This is an extremely ambitious scene to recreate and barring one slight editing hitch you’ve done this superbly. The four shots/locations look sufficiently different, there’s some excellent attention to detail (the eating, the expressions, the timing) and overall the scene works. The slight glitch when switching from the four-way split to two-way split is a clear EBI but this is an editing point and the focus of this task was mise-en-scene. With regards to that, this is a huge success! Another aspect is your direction – you’ve got four excellent performances here and the small details (props, reactions etc.) show you are instructing your performers and timing the scene very impressively. Self-assessment WWW: The timing of all the clips and making every detail of the actions the same as the original clip. Comments & feedback: This is an interesting one – it feels like three excellent standalone scenes but doesn’t quite fit together as a coherent narrative collectively. The editing and use of music in the opening is very strong although perhaps you need to make more of the flashback scenes? They are so quick it’s difficult to tell exactly what story they are telling. The next scene with the shot of the victim is so well framed to communicate that she’s being held captive. However, the transition between the scenes is a little messy – I don’t fully understand how the narrative fits together. Is it worth considering re-ordering these scenes to make the narrative clearer? You could also think about where the title graphic goes to help with this. Talking of the title graphic, you might want to add the name of the writer/creator (you want as many TV drama key conventions as possible) and perhaps use it to divide...

Media Factsheet 1) What is the history and narrative behind War of the Worlds? Orson Welles’ 1938 radio play is an adaption of H.G. Wells’ novel of the same name, first published in 1898. It tells the story of an alien invasion and the ensuing conflict between mankind and an extra- terrestrial race from Mars.
