Opening sequence to Lion, a Long Way Home:
(from 2:43 - 4:14)

At the beginning of this clip an extreme long shot is used to establish the setting and to illustrate how small the character looks in a big place. Straight after this we get a closer view of what the main character is looking at with a medium long shot and some mid shots. This allows for the audience to be immersed in the swarm of butterflies with Saroo. A long shot, which is tilted upwards, is used to introduce the next character to show him from Saroo's point of view. Some handheld shots are used as the two characters board the train to make it seem more realistic for the audience. When they get caught there is a closeup that is used to bring attention towards his facial expression. Just before the train goes through the tunnel an over the shoulder shot, closeup and long shot is used consecutively. This may depict the thought process of the character as he realised he had escaped successfully.

The use of this long shot empowers the character. There is chaos going on the the background which is all purposefully in focus to insinuate that this was caused by her. She is in the centre of the frame in order for her to be the focal point. The audience is able to connect with the audience due to the character looking directly at the camera.
